Reflections on the five-year anniversary of my first trip to #Alaska ! A thread
Five years ago today, I hopped off a plane in #Juneau , Alaska, and started to rediscover a part of myself I had long forgotten.
Back in July of 2021, I was a fresh-faced 26-year-old flying nearly 4,000 miles across the continent to visit my long-distance boyfriend for the first time. I had no idea just how much those ten days would change my life.

The fjords of Tracy Arm in southeast Alaska. Steep, forested mountains jut up from the light blue waters. small icebergs float in the waters ahead, and above the rocky mountains is a beautiful cloudy sky.
A view from the bow of a small metal shipping boat, coming up on a massive and brilliant blue glacier (Specifically the sawyer glacier in Tracy Arm). Small icebergs float in the water in front of the glacier, and behind it are rugged brown mountains and a cloudy sky. We got as close to the glacier as the currents would let us!
Lush evergreen forests surround and frame distant green mountains beneath a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. One massive tree in the foreground takes up most of the left side of the shot. This is one of my favorite pictures I have ever taken, but since it's the view from my ex's back porch, I will never get quite the same view ever again.
A person (me!) wearing a flannel, olive green skinny jeans, and black vans, sitting on a large moss-covered tree trunk growing across a massive fast-moving creek. I am beaming and have both arms raised. Dense green trees and plants surround the water, and small stones and crystals are visible beneath the light turquoise waters.
