The pigments on the armour, trousers and faces were laid over a thin lacquer ground that had survived two millennia underground at constant humidity but began to flake within hours of exposure to dry #Shaanxi air.”

From there it was only a short step to claiming the colour for whichever family currently held the Mandate of Heaven.

What separates China from other countries is aid directed at the private sector (in general) but rather how its directed.
US & EU aid (of various sorts) is the mechanism by which damage from globalisation is managed; in China the focus is on its export strategy; sectors getting most support are those that the Chinese state wants to see expand their exporting.
This is likely about democracy (US/EU Govt's responding to voters' pain) while in China that plays little role?
Apart from that, the United States, whose military power and presence have guaranteed Japan’s security since WWII, is proving to be an unreliable ally under Donald #Trump.
