For many in the arts the defunding of Jodrell Bank & the e-Merlin radio telescopes array will be familiar;
for decades arts institutions have been confronted by decisions on rebalancing of strategic investments & better value for money.
Now, our political class' already narrowing perception of the public good look alike has deepened (widened?) its impact on the sciences.
For those who didn't speak up for the arts, perhaps *now* the crisis in public funding will be notable?
