@ChrisMayLA6 The timing of the decision to defund looks suspicious. It was presumably agreeable to ministers and officials in a department that has since been abolished - and the two most senior ministers in it - #LizKendal and #patrickvallance - have left the government. This looks like the - equal and opposite - mirror image of a practice known as 'tombstone funding' whereby an organisation in the course of being abolished finds ways of making financial provisions for 'legacy projects.
@ChrisMayLA6 The #GreaterLondonCouncil under #kenlivingstone was extremely successful at 'tombstone funding' of organisations in the run up to its abolition in the 1980s. So much so that by the early 2000s there were stringent controls in place with regard to any public body approaching abolition (my experience as a national officer of the Association of Community Health Councils for England and Wales was an example of this). Maybe there should be comparable rules against 'tombstone defunding'
