@ChrisMayLA6 I really do not understand why, in politics, responsibility seems to come from the bottom up instead of from the top down. It's not the AI's fault that it's inherently unreliable, non-determinism is the whole point. It's the fault of whoever chose to use such a fallible technology, but will they take the blame? Of course not.

@ChrisMayLA6 It's not just blaming technology, they blame their underlings too, and both the press and judicial systems let them get away with it. Everyone knows they're at fault, but everyone in any position to do anything about it just pretends like they don't. It's absolutely ridiculous.

The consequences should be the obvious ones:
Fire the people who worked on that case, and their bosses all the way up.
And the asylum seeker gets a citizenship as a thank you for helping find this deep rot in the system.

That should be expensive, as well as the criminal or contempt consequences to whoever sent the evidence.

Maybe I am tired or hallucinating…but is the gist of this story that the Home Office can completely ignore the testimony of a woman fleeing a country where she was made a child bride and raped and feared being killed by her convicted criminal husband if she went back there because they thought they had a a document (that only exists in AI make believe land) which claims everything is hunky dory in said country. Only the real document says it’s not…

What other areas of law will this be expanded to as fast as they can get away with it?
It will certainly ease the pressure on the police when they just need to arrest the usual suspects and press the "Manufacture Evidence" button.

@ChrisMayLA6 I’m for relatively minimal consequences for this; the home office employee who produced this should be charged with fraud, and the home office lawyer who signed off on it immediately disbarred.
Which would be a LOT less than they deserved.
