The hearing is supposed to be about investigating the origins of the #coronavirus, but #Republicans are largely using it to attack & disparage Dr. #Fauci personally, trying to paint a picture of him as pursuing fame & money at Americans’ expense, & mocking him for taking the #FifthAmendment.
Senator #BernieMoreno, Republican of Ohio, says aloud one main consequence of today’s hearing: It will produce video clips that Republicans can use to campaign. -Sick🤬
The hearing is over. Sen #RandPaul said the committee would vote next week on whether to hold Dr. #Fauci in #contempt for his refusal to testify [nope, that is a constitutional right you ignorant prick]. He delivered a dark closing statement, asking of Fauci, “Did his actions lead to the largest man-made plague in history?” Then Paul closed the hearing. Fauci walked out, stone-faced & necessarily escorted by police due to all the threats he faces because of charades like this.
