#Trump already has torn down the #EastWing to make room for his $400 million, 90,000-square-foot #ballroom; he remade the bathroom attached to the #LincolnBedroom in marble & gold; he paved over the #RoseGarden grass; he added marble floors & a chandelier to the #PalmRoom; he covered the #OvalOffice in gold; & he has a new, 33,000-square-foot security screening center for #WhiteHouse visitors in the works.
His latest plans involve the more private spaces of the #WhiteHouse, in the second-floor presidential residence. The #TreatyRoom —which is separate from the Indian Treaty Room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Bldg—is one of the most #historic rooms in the White House. Presidents Ulysses S. Grant & William McKinley used it as a Cabinet room, & it was where the #SpanishAmericanWar peace protocol of 1898, & the #NuclearTestBan treaty of 1963, were signed.
Once known as the “Monroe Room,” because it was where President James Monroe worked, it also has been the setting for major wartime addresses by presidents George W. Bush & Joseph R. Biden Jr.
