I saw The Odyssey. It Was…Meh…
So I saw The Odyssey earlier this week, & while the movie is not the worst I have ever seen, it definitely was not spectacular overall.

My dissapointed face in front of what should have been an awesome movie.
If I had not read The Odyssey when I was younger (I believe it was required reading for school), I would have been clueless as to what exactly was happening throughout most of the movie.
What makes this movie disappointing is not the acting, the special effects, the cinematography, the music, or even the fashion of the main characters. All of those were top notch!
What made the movie so unsatisfying was the layout of the story itself. The movie boasted so much talent all around, & the one thing that was supposed to make it great—the story or the portrayal of events—ended up bringing the whole movie down.

A good story is foundational to any movie, play, show, etcetera. A movie without a good story is like a burger sandwich without the burger! 🍔 If it were not for the ending of the movie and the parts about the Trojan Horse, I would have written off the entire thing as a colossal waste of time.
Hopefully, if someone decides to film The Odyssey for the umpteenth time, they will include the parts that show off Odysseus’s cleverness (it was a travesty to leave out the dialogue between him & the giant!).
