On to the scary Varta battery topic: here are the iPhone shots of the back of the board behind the three battery pins and the negative and positive sides of the battery topside.
First off - there's no immediately obvious horror show, so whatever damage there might be is, I hope, immaterial at best and slight at worst. The board is definitely not the nightmare it could have been 32+ years on from when it was made.

A closeup shot of the Amiga 3000T main board centered on the large blue, barrel-shaped battery's positive end. As with the previous shot, there is only slight discoloration on the battery, appearing as a rust color where the silver area meets the blue outer casing. The board to which it is mounted seems more or less fine.
A closeup photo of the negative end of the large blue barrel-shaped battery on the front side of the board. There are very slight hints of crystals on the battery's silver surface, but the board has no overt damage visible in this shot.
A closeup shot of the back of the Amiga 3000T motherboard showing the area in the vicinity of the battery. The three largest pins in a triangular pattern appear in the upper right quarter of the shot. There is a slight haze in that vicinity, but no deep etching or corrosion. An overhead light creates an odd round reflection in the bottom middle of the photo.
