In the end, might this be Andy Burnham's most consequential appointment?

@ChrisMayLA6 I agree that she is seriously good news. I also suspect that she was lucky to escape the last minute cull of parliamentary candidates instituted by #labour just before #ukgeneralelection2024 . This focussed particularly on articulate women of colour - #faizashaheen being the beat known case.
@ChrisMayLA6 My only reservation on seeing her made Secretary of State barely two years since first being elected is that she may be hampered by lack of experience of ministerial shenanigans. That’s not a critique of her technical capabilities and intelligence but an observation that even rising stars usually have a kind of apprenticeship through which to learn the political ropes from old hands. The concern is that I want her to succeed, not be derailed by obstacles.

I think this is a oremature promotion. Fahnbulleh clearly has strong intellectual & policy skills, but she hasn't served her political apprenticeship.
2 years in the Commons isn't enough to build up the breadth & depth of relationships & experiences needed to survive in the poisonous PLP.
Her position is v v exposed. If she doesn't learn v fast, she risks personal & governmental failure.
