Kari Lake, a Trump ally and a senior adviser at the news organization's oversight agency, described the move as "part of a long-overdue effort to dismantle a bloated, unaccountable bureaucracy."
In March, Trump's executive order had accused the news group of spreading "anti-American" and partisan "propaganda," calling it "the voice of radical America."
