As Roy Lilley (NHSManagers.net) points out, on social care:
'The real choice is not between paying & not paying. It’s between paying collectively and predictably… or privately, randomly & ruinously'!
If Andy Burnham can avoid the caustic headlines of the Right press, and build a coalition to support properly funded social care, we may well find this in the end is the economic policy the UK has been looking for; freeing millions from care-based anxiety & (self)exploitation.
If he - #andyburnham - were to succeed then some time early in the next decade the #conservativeparty - presumably under a different leader - #aliciakearns ? - would get round to accepting it. Before than they will see no advantage in doing so - let alone being part of any such coalition - unlike the #liberaldemocrats who seem persuadable.
