@ChrisMayLA6 In my view the first stage would be use a right of 'self-funders' to request local authorities to act for them to get rid of the existing 'wo-tier' market for social care. This would cost public money upfront but would generate almost immediately around £ 2 Billion p.a. savings in the #nhs due to a very large reduction in 'stranded' patients ( with any luck this might get logged by the #officeforbudgetresponsibility ). So no immediate loss of capacity.

@ChrisMayLA6 In the Netherlands we had a NHS which provided a set of basic care according to a government-set policy and then private healthcare providers could provide any and all care beyond that.
This meant that for the most part basic care, including tooth and mental care, was covered by a non-profit scheme for those who could not afford private for-profit healthcare.
And then some liberals decided it was too expensive... and now everyone's f'ed and it's all more expensive for the taxpayer.

@ChrisMayLA6 Might have an easier time framing this as anti-private equity rather than the technical for-profit term. Everyone hates greedy vampires, less room for their defenders in the Mail and the Times to operate.
