Scottish-born inventor Alexander Graham Bell — who died #onthisday in 1922 — goes to kiss his wife Mabel while she stands in one of his spectacular tetrahedral kites. some company back in the mid 70's used to sell a plastic tetrahedron that you had to buy multiple kits to get to that size.. I did so and made the mistake of using twisted line in place of braided.. & one day soon after building, we started flying on a nice spring day in south OKC, that soon turned dark and stormy & the damn line broke while we were hauling it down...don't know where it flew to with 500ft of line acting as a stabilizing drag..

@publicdomainrev This almost certainly happened at Beinn Bhreagh, where Bell had a workshop...there is a very good museum nearby Baddeck with lots of Bells inventions on display including Hydrofoils and some of these beautiful kites.
