The church has no place in how a state should be run. That's why we must separate religion from politics.

Screenshot of a tweet by Boston Smalls saying “Get these people out of here,” quoting a Minnesota House DFL post. The quoted tweet states that GOP Rep. Mary Franson is not concerned about climate change because it is not in the Bible, followed by criticism of Republicans ignoring science. Below is an image of a woman, identified as Mary Franson, speaking at a legislative committee hearing with a caption referencing a Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee meeting.

@georgetakei Why do they call it the "Good Book?" I've been forced to read it, and it is quite frankly a terrible read, filled with vulgarity and atrocities.

Also, that woman is batshite insane and has no place in politics.

@georgetakei The Bible Includes:

- Talking Snakes
- Giants
- Six-hundred Year Old Men
- Zero Helicopters

The Bible is an artifact, a description of what our civilization once was. It has no place in modern society whatsoever.

This person hasn't read the end of the book. There are a LOT of major climate events. The sky fucking bleeds. Burning hail...lots of lighting...winds...a bunch of angels farting....

No dude. Climate gets fucked HARD and then everyone dies horribly and then the whole world is destroyed. Last two seals you do NOT want to be around exactly because the climate will be VERY inhospitable to human life.

They haven't read the book. It's just laughably apparent.

@georgetakei What does the Bible say about airplanes?

I mean, you can choose to believe in this shit if you like. You can believe in ghosts and witches and Santa, but when your delusions start effecting my life, my children’s lives, you can fuck all the way off with those fantasies. Preach in your own damn church, and pay for it with your own damn tithes.

Why do the GOPers keep electing these idiots? They’re not Christians, and contrary to their claims, they have not read the ‘Good Book.’

@georgetakei I’ve had nightmares about being The One during first contact. The reason is, whoever it is that they choose is (at some point) going to have to explain to them that a good portion of the planet believes in an invisible ancient sky dad that controls everything that ever was or will be. Including them, presumably. Oh, and three of the biggest groups all believe in the same skydad but each thinks he loves them most. Hard pass

@georgetakei I'd rather say that a lot of the politicians in our world abuse religion to prove their points.

But no religion is here to prove that any of us is right. Religion is here to form us to be better people, to care for each other, to have a moral ground.

What these politicians so completely ignores is that their actions speaks louder than anything.

Such politicians coming with such claims as Mrs. Franson, who defends the way they treat their citizens (like, health care, immigration, helping people in need) should also point out where in the "Good Book" it says anything about refusing to help people in need, undignified behaviour towards immigrants, spreading hatred among the population, segregation of communities, refusing to help their own people getting proper health care.

Such politicians should be held accountable against the religion they claim to defend. And trust me, they would all fall like flies if you start digging into the gory religious details - regardless of the religion.

No religion is suitable for a "cherry pick your own faith". You need to take it fully in.

These politicians are abusing religious statements to gain more power and wealth for themselves. Nothing more, noting less.

@georgetakei 100% agree, but I´d go further. These people live by aesthetically associating themselves with "social merit badges" such as "patriot" or "christian" that get them social points. They are neither, so don´t let them do that. If they want to be recognized as tough, they need to not TACO. If they want to be Christian, they need to stop acting like the hell-bound Fake Christian goats of Matthew 25, kidnapping their foreign brothers and sisters. Just some strategy thoughts.
