And it just gets worse.... it now transpires that NHS England, in its original data protection impact statement, failed to reveal the under the Palantir contract the firm's operatives would be given potentially unlimited access to identifiable patient data....
And so NHSE has lied about the success of the software project (see previous posts) & lied about its impact; if NHSE was not about the be dismembered this would be a good reason to do so.

The problem is Ministers and Managers, not the NHS concept or even structure. Just like with underfunding.
@ChrisMayLA6 Years ago, when we were justifiably instructed to give up our ties and long sleeves in the interest of infection control, the C-suite people retained theirs. It's always been the case that there is a group to whom the rules, no matter how well justified, do not apply.

@ChrisMayLA6 well that _should_ be catastrophic for the palantir contract. It won't be though. The importance of confidentiality in health data is a well studied area, it's why the NHS always pushes back against attempts to grant access to health records to law enforcement and immigration services.
@ChrisMayLA6 Just to say, there is no such thing as "anonymous data" - even if you were to scrub out all "personally identifiable information" it would only take a few random data points connected together to get a reliable identity of a person.
Nah, its budget and management should be transferred to the more competent NHS Scotland for a few years and then we'll give it back once England elects a non-clown party who can run a government properly.

Data is the new oil, and the US is as keen to liberate sovereign data as it is to liberate sovereign resources.
If we're truly following a financial monopolists' playbook then the sanctity and persistence of original sources of data may eventually be under threat from the companies that now 'own' those resources.
