A reporter for Axios said #Turkey, #Egypt & #Pakistan had met White House envoy Steve Witkoff &, separately, #Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The reporter, Barak Ravid, cited an unnamed #US source as saying the discussion was about ending the #war & resolving all outstanding issues.

Araghchi's ministry said there were "initiatives" to reduce ​tensions, the Mehr news agency reported, adding that Tehran wanted Washington, as the party that began the #war, to be a direct participant.

@Nonilex This fells like an echo of why PM Carney's speech about Middle Powers and their responsibility/opportunity resonated so much. Feels like that cadre is the only thing holding anything together, through quiet influence and pressure.

Sure wish we could see a strengthening of that element. Just quietly humming along, excluding the dysfunctional powers, and getting them to clean up their behaviour if they want to participate.
